Lucy Wnuk, Santa Barbara, 1962 Lucille "Lucy" Wnuk (Sermak) grew up in the Polish community of San Diego, California, dancing and performing from early childhood. She and her older sister Bonnie also were regulars at the various San Diego folk dance groups, dancing nearly every Sunday for onlookers in Balboa Park.

Lucy got into performing Polish dances as a young girl, wearing beautiful costumes made by her mother. Her interest in Polish folklore took her to Poland in 1963, where she learned Polish dances from Agnieszka Sądzimir, folk instructor at the Cultural Center in Warsaw.

She later taught Polish folk dance at both the Santa Barbara Folk Dance Conference and the Stockton Folk Dance Camp.

Lucy makes her home in San Diego, California.

Dances Lucy has taught include Jarocinka Polka, Kokotek, Kozak, Krakowiak, Kujawiak, Łęczycka Polka, Lublin Waltz, Marynia, Mazur, Oberek, Polonez, Stara Baba, and Zasiali Gorale.
