Marcel Pronovost

Marcel Pronovost was the founder of the Ensemble Folklorique Outaouais and co-founder of the International Folk Dancers of Ottawa (IFDO). He has taught recreational folk dancing at the Good Companions Senior Daytime Centre in Ottawa.

He is a past president of the Ontario and Ottawa Folk Arts Councils and former vice-chairman of the Canadian Folk Arts Council. He served on the Mayor of Ottawa's Committee for the Arts and did critiques of folk dance performances at the NAC for the local CBC French radio station.

Marcel is the recipient of an award for voluntary service given by the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Culture.

He has been involved in International folk dancing for over 40 years. He received his folk dance training in Canada, the U.S., Bulgaria, Hungary, and Serbia.

Marcel has written a book titled "Hearth and Home" about his distant great grandfather, a fur trader named Mathieu Rouillard.
